Adelaide is a beautiful
relaxed smaller city. It has very nice old buildings, a very vibrant
mall area and many parks and gardens. It is also the gateway to the
Barossa Valley which is Australia's oldest and best known wine growing
region. It's an easy drive or bus trip from Adelaide and is a bit like
the Napa Valley.
Kangaroo Island is an
amazing place with spectacular scenery and wildlife. Close to Adelaide
by car/ferry or bus tour.
For the more adventurous
Adelaide is also where you begin to drive to Coober Pedy (the opal
mining center) where many hotels and homes are underground. An amazing
place to see and where Mad Max was filmed. It's "on the way" to Central
Australia and Uluru (Ayer's Rock) and the surrounding sights. A great
drive but long! You can fly if time's short.
